Beta-pinene

Beta-pinene

Beta-pinene is a bicyclic monoterpene and one of two pinene isomers (the other being alpha-pinene). It also has two enantiomers.

Pinenes can dissolve soft plastics, so hard plastic or glass containers are superior for storage. They are also rapidly absorbed in the lungs, offering high bioavailability and bronchodilation. Pinenes are also acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, allowing them to improve memory, mental focus, and attention.

Beta-pinene's prevalence has increased, but its average concentration remains low. This further suggests that better testing sensitivities are identifying strains with trace amounts of beta-pinene produced as a byproduct.
